What’s new?
It is a brand-new version of one of the manufacture’s all-time favourite ranges. It will be produced at the BMW Group Plant in Dingolfing, Germany, where the 5 Series has been manufactured for over 50 years.
Exterior:
The entire exterior has been completely redesigned for a clearer, reduced design to underline the sporty elegance of the new 5 Series. The front features the brand-typical double headlights and BMW kidney grille.
The most noticeable change is the new BMW grille, which projects forward. The Hofmeister kink design at the back windows on the side, counter-swing is highlighted by a graphic element with an embossed number 5.
The rear light sources are divided by the L-shaped chrome strips. A wide range of paintwork will be available, and for the first time for the BMW 5 Series there will be an M Sport package Pro available.
The BMW 5 Series sits on 18-inch light alloy wheels as standard. BMW i5 and plug-in hybrid models are on 19-inch light alloy wheels as standard and can be specced to up to 21-inch wheels.
Interior:
Inside you will find a new driver-orientated cockpit design with BMW’s curved display. It houses a 12.3-inch information display and a 14.9-inch control display. This significantly reduces the number of buttons and controls.
The BMW 5 Series also has a new BMW Interaction Bar with a stylish backlight surface. The steering wheel is redesigned with a flatted bottom with a 2-spoke or 3-spoke design.
As if the interior does not have a wow enough factor, you can, for the first time ever, completely spec your BMW with a vegan leather interior, which is included in the basic version. The new BMW 5 Series comes standard with black Veganza seat surfaces with leather-like properties.
Performance:
When it comes to the new BMW 5 Series Sedan, it’s well renowned for its perfect blend of elegance and sheer power. That has not changed for the 8th generation, says BMW.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive, which is just one of the fully electric models, as the top model in the series, has two highly integrated drive units on the front and rear axles. The maximum system power output is 442 kW and 820 Nm with a claimed acceleration to 100 km/h in only 3.8 seconds.
The BMW i5 M60 xDrive has a drive range of 497 km to 582 km. The BMW i5’s combined charging unit enables AC charging as standard with an output of up to 11 kW and optionally 22 kW. DC charging of up to 205 kW allows the range to be increased by up to 156 km within 10 min.
All combustion engine models of the new range come standard with a new 8-speed Steptronic transmission, which includes paddle shifters on the steering wheel.
