DFSK expanding offering in South Africa

DFSK’s current vehicle line-up in the country will expand with the addition of new petrol versions of the DFSK K01S Bakkie and the DFSK C35 Panel Van while on the electric vehicle side, the DFSK EC35 and EC31 are already familiar ‘faces’ locally.

At the heart of DFSK’s expansion in South Africa is Gina Giani, a seasoned automotive professional with a wealth of experience in the South African motoring industry. With a proven track record in managing and growing automotive brands, Gina brings deep local market insights to DFSK.

Regarding DSFK’s EVs and ICEs – Enviro Auto has a joint venture with Wilgin Holdings. Enviro Auto imports electric vehicles and Wilgin the ICE vehicles and the distribution of parts.

Dealerfloor reported in 2023 about the possibility of local manufacturing, but a spokesperson says the numbers at this stage do not support local production. Wilgin Holdings is the importer and distributor of DFSK.

Wilgin has a dealer network of 22 dealers, and it will increase to 32 dealerships by June this year.

The technical details are:

  • DFSK K01S Bakkie: A compact utility vehicle, the K01S Bakkie is designed for tradesmen, small business owners, and anyone in need of a reliable workhorse with a 985kg load capacity. The engine delivers 65kW and 115Nm torque and boasts a 5-speed manual gearbox.
  • DFSK C35 Panel Van: This commercial transport solution offers a 5.1m³ load capacity, a 1.5-litre engine delivering 85kW and 148Nm of torque connected to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The C35 is built to handle heavy-duty loads. It boasts five easily accessible doors, including two sliding side doors and a rear boot door.
  • DFSK EC35 and EC31 Electric Vehicles: As part of DFSK’s sustainability efforts, the brand is introducing its electric vehicle offerings to the South African market. The EC35 and EC31 provide a greener, more eco-conscious transport solution without compromising on utility or performance.
